FINALLY HE GET'S AROUND TO DOING THE FOOTBALL PAGE!

I think I can safely say some of you may have been wondering which football team I support.  Well let me put you out of your misery, no it's not Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea or even Brentford.  No, for I have chosen to go and support (whenever work or the wife allows) ASHFORD TOWN (Middlesex) FC!

please excuse quality of ATFC badgeAshford Town (Middlesex) FC currently play in Division 1 South of the RYMAN League (at the moment the lower reaches), not quite the Premier League but still that doesn't bother me.  Competing in that division means we have a few local derby matches against Staines Town FC, Egham Town FC, Walton & Hersham FC and Molesey FC.  Ashford's home ground is Short Lane, Stanwell complete with 150 seater stand and covered standing for 300.  They also have their own official website (just click on the badge).

The pictures below are from Ashford's Boxing Day 2002 home fixture against local rivals Staines Town FC (all pictures have been reproduced from the Staines Massive website), Ashford are the ones in Orange & White stripes.  If you're that interested it ended 0 - 0 (I know because I was there).

Ashford's next home game - Saturday 20 Dec 2003 v Bracknell Town FC ko 3.00pm

Within this page I will just be writing about football in general, just me ramblingMain Stand at Short Lane on.  It could be about Ashford, the Premier League or even England national team.

The Following pictures are from the home draw (1-1) of Ashford versus Bromley on Monday 25 August 2003 (all taken with my trusty Kodak).

Grounds or Clubs That I've Visited

The following is a list of football clubs and grounds that I have seen games at, it's just something to fill the page.  Whenever I'm away on holiday or visiting friends or relatives, I try to take in a game somewhere (although saying that I'm not a Groundhopper).  I'll try to add pictures or links that are relevant to each club or ground.  My memory is not as it should be so as long as you don't expect too much info, you won't be disappointed.

AFC Wallingford - versus Ashford Town in the Combined Counties League. My Daughter, Katy outside Arsenal FC
Arsenal FC - versus Chelsea FC (Wed 4 Sept 1996) in the Premiership.  Took my youngest daughter Katy, to see Arsenal versus Fulham (Sun 30 Nov 2003) end in a nil - nil draw, then a few days later (Tues 2 Dec 2003) to see Arsenal beat Wolves in the Carling Cup 4th Round, by 5 goals to 1.

Hampton & Richmond Borough FC
- versus Ashford Town in the Middlesex County Cup (when they were just plain Hampton FC).
Hartley Wintney FC
- versus Ashford Town in the Combined Counties League.
Hayes FC
- versus Ashford Town in the Middlesex County Cup, probably the best performance from Ashford I've ever seen.  Hayes were top of the Ryman Premier whilst we were in the Combined Counties and we beat them, I think it was 3-0 not quite sure long time ago.
Hillingdon Borough FC
- versus Ashford Town in the Middlesex Senior Charity Cup (Tues 21 March 2000).
Holbeach United FC
- versus Blackstones FC in the United Counties Football League (Tues 24 Oct 2000).

Wimbledon FC
- versus Arsenal FC (Sat 16 March 1996) and Newcastle United FC (Sun 23 March 1997), both games in the Premiership.  In my opinion since their move to Milton Keynes there is only one Wimbledon team, and that is AFC Wimbledon.
